FAQ
How long will it take to ship my vehicle?
The shipping time that your vehicle takes to arrive at its destination depends on the distance of your move. Our knowledgeable staff will discuss with you all the options available in order to ship your vehicle so it arrives when you require it at your new destination. Vehicle Transport Canada will give you the approximate date of arrival. However there are uncontrollable variables such as weather, construction on highways and truck maintenance which Vehicle Transport Canada cannot control.
Prepare your Vehicle for shipping.
Vehicle is in good running order.
Ensure that your tires are road worthy. The battery is charging properly. Your emergency brake is in good working condition. This is very important to ensure loading and offloading are not hindered in any way.
Any fluid leaks e.g. motor oil, transmission fluid, etc. you must advise by email to Vehicle Transport Canada prior to shipping so we can properly load your vehicle. Failure to do so could result in you being charged for any damages that occur to another customer’s vehicle because of your fluid leaks.
Your gas tank should be ¼ full.
Your Registration and Insurance Papers should be left in your glove compartment. Some of our customers are worried about leaving the originals in their car so a copy of your Registration and Insurance Papers can be left instead.

Payment Options
Vehicle Transport Canada accepts E-transfers, Credit Cards, or Cash. Please speak with your Customer Service Rep to arrange the payment.
How will my vehicle be shipped?
This will all be discussed with one of our team members when you decide to ship your vehicle with Vehicle Transport Canada to determine what is the best shipment for your vehicle.
Usually your vehicle will be shipped by an open car carrier. Some of our clients prefer to have their vehicle shipped by an enclosed trailer. Vehicle Transport Canada can also arrange for shipping of your vehicle by rail.
Can I ship boxes and personal items in my vehicles?
This depends on where your vehicle is being shipped to and which form of transportation you have chosen. Vehicle Transport Canada allows up to 150 lbs of personal belongings as any more weight could result in damage to your back suspension of your vehicle.
Personal belongings are only allowed in the back seat and any open trunk in a SUV or Station Wagon and must be covered over with a tarp or blanket no higher than the bottom of the windows.
Personal items left in your vehicle are not insured.
Sometimes though, if we are co-partnering with another carrier you would not be allowed to have personal belonging in the vehicle.
If shipping by rail their policy is no personal items are to be left in your vehicle.
Ask Vehicle Transport Canada Customer Service Rep if you are able to ship the personal items.
What is “Terminal to Terminal”, “Door to Door” or “Meet the Driver”?
The most cost-efficient method of car shipping is Terminal to Terminal where you would drop off your vehicle at the assigned Terminal for transport and you would pick it up at the assigned Terminal at your destination.
Door to Door Service can be arranged using one of our local companies to pick up your vehicle to transport it to the assigned Terminal where it would be loaded on the carrier for shipping. If you require this service please advise the Customer Service Rep at the time of booking so we can adjust the rate accordingly.
Sometimes depending on where your vehicle is being shipped to or picked up from you will have to meet the driver at a location that is easily accessible like a truck stop or dealership as Vehicle Transport Canada does not have access to terminals in every city.
What is the process if there is damage to my vehicle?
Upon pick up of your vehicle you will be required to carefully inspect your vehicle with the driver. If there is damage please inform the driver immediately and have it noted on the Condition Report. If possible please take pictures of the damage. Please contact Vehicle Transport Canada within 24 hrs so we can begin to process your claim.
Any claims that are not reported within 24 hrs will be denied.
